ABOUT ME

I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and undertaking regular clinical supervision.
As an integrative practitioner, I draw from a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, so that we can explore together your patterns of thinking, understand their role and origins, and examine how helpful they are today. My practice is informed by attachment theory, which explains how early relationships with caregivers shape our emotional bonds and patterns of behaviour in later relationships.
Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, work stress, relationship challenges, or simply wanting to get to know yourself better, therapy can offer the tools and insights to expand your self-awareness and help you find a better place.
Where helpful, I can offer approaches such as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) Motivational Interviewing (MI), as well as existential, systemic or psychodynamic approaches. Some approaches may be more suitable if you have a specific goal in mind. For example, SFBT can be helpful when addressing relationship concerns or work-related stress. However, there is no such thing as a typical counselling session. I work within pluralistic framework, meaning that we will collaborate to determine the direction and pace of your sessions.

Areas of focus: relational trauma, work stress, self-criticism, self-hatred, bereavement and loss, mood swings, anger management, panic attacks, anxiety, depression, identity issues, questioning choices made, aloneness and loneliness, search for meaning. I provide culturally sensitive interventions, and welcome people from all genders, sexualities and backgrounds.
I have an experience of working within higher education setting, charities such as Menfulness, York Carers, York Mind Garden CIC, as well as individual clients.
